Picking Furniture
The right furniture can really give a bedroom a beachy feel. The right furniture is
a key aspect in bringing the final pieces of your surf bedroom
together. If you are starting from scratch I recommend picking out what
bedding you want as the centerpiece of your room, and adding the
furniture to coordinate with your Hawaiian bedding. If you already have
furniture you like, or just don’t want to purchase new furniture, which
can be quite expensive, make sure you get bedding that coordinates with
your existing furniture.
This probably sounds
pretty basic, but I wanted to show you the difference the right style
headboard and nightstands can make, and how they can really bring a room
together.
Surfer Girl Bedding with Dark Wood Furniture |
|
For this room we
originally used a darker bedroom furniture set, which we had in stock,
but I felt it changed the mood of the beach / surfer girl room set we
were going for. I wanted to make sure this surfer room felt open and
airy, just like the beach. The great thing about the vintage beach
cottage look is you can search for any used headboard set, and apply a
fresh coat of white paint to it. Don’t worry if the furniture has
scratches or is old, it will actually add some appeal and make your
bedroom feel like a beach cottage. This is a great alternative to buying
new furniture, and is good for the environment.
Of course if we had
to use the dark furniture with this bedding, I probably would have
picked out a different wall border, and different color paint to
coordinate more with the furniture. The light sky blue paint we used
requires a more open beach feel to this room.
